- Lowe Press, 1856-1866 - The Lowe printing press was one of the earliest portable, low price American presses designed for amateur use. The usual flat platen was replaced by a rolling conical cylinder--which was an interesting experiment--but produced irregular impressions. Presses like this became a solution during the Civil War to print military orders in the field.

At one time, the building housed a recreated 19th-century small town newspaper print shop and tinsmithing studio. Now, only the print shop remains.
